Javelina Make Davis, Dempster Trades Official

The Julian Javelina this morning officially announced they have traded starting pitcher Ryan Dempster and first baseman Ike Davis. As Julian has opted to rebuild this offseason, the team will be accepting draft pick compensation for both players.

Davis, a 24-year old first sacker, has amassed a .271/.357/.460 slash line in 652 career at bats spanning parts of two seasons to go with 26 home runs, 96 RBI and 89 walks. He was traded to the Atlantic Surge for pick 4.4 (#52 overall).

Dempster is 112-116 for his career to go with 87 career saves. He's coming off of a disappointing 2011 campaign in which he struggled for much of the season, but joins a team full of potential bounce back players for the Olivet Killer Eagles. The Javelina will receive pick 7.1
(#98 overall).

As a result of these trades, the Javelina now own nine of the top 100 picks in the deepest draft this league has seen since its inception. As long as they make the most of those picks, they should be on the fast track to competing in 2013.
